Laura Southern, an inspiring nutritionist, came to speak to a group of interested women about how to reduce sugar in their kid’s diets. She explained how too much sugar can affect mood swings and lower immunity as well as rot teeth and lead to obesity. She showed us how to read food labels and gave some great tips about how to reduce the hidden sugars in our kids’ diets. We tasted a number of low sugar and no sugar breakfast options and everyone left the room buzzing with ideas about how to make positive changes to their kids’ food.
We raised £650 - enough money to give one (and a bit) Lemonade Fund grants, to someone in Israel who is struggling with the financial implications of having breast cancer. As one recipient told us.... "£500 pays for a lot of childcare and bus rides to hospital. Now I can sleep better at night."
