A sold out Book Lovers' Tea was a huge success at the Grove Hotel on Thursday November 17th. Guests arrived at the delightful Potting Shed, a conservatory with a view of the gorgeous gardens and grounds of this beautiful Hertfordshire hotel. They were welcomed by Danni Franks, Myisrael’s CEO and watched a short film demonstrating the broad reach of Myisrael’s work before afternoon tea was served. Delicious finger sandwiches, mini afternoon cakes and warm scones with clotted cream and jam all went down a treat, served with any type of tea you could think of. At some point the eating had to stop and the event began in earnest, with TV Presenter Rebecca Wilcox, daughter of Esther Rantzen and Desmond Wilcox, hosting our acclaimed panel of authors. Jemma Wayne, author of Chains of Sand and After Before, crime writer Ruth Dugdall, and Marilyn Messik, author of the Strange series, all talked about their writing experiences and routes to becoming published authors. We heard who inspires the writers, what their guilty reading pleasures are (if any) and their dreams of having their books turned into films (all except Marilyn who claims she couldn't bear to give up control of her books to the big screen!). The event was a huge success and Myisrael would like to thank Daniel Levy at the Grove for sponsoring the event, and all the guests and generous donors who together raised over £3,500 for Maslan, a centre for sexual abuse in the South of Israel. Every penny raised will go directly to supporting this project. Thank you also to our panel who so generously gave up their time to this event.
