myisrael project fund
Donations directed to the myisrael project fund are allocated by the trustees to the projects deemed most in need. myisrael currently supports up to 18 projects, each working with a different group of vulnerable people. Each project has different needs at different times and the board meet three or four times a year to decide how the money in the general fund will be allocated. Of course, as with all donations received by myisrael, 100% of every donation goes directly to the projects themselves.
INTRA: riding lessons for the disabled
INTRA, the Israel National Therapeutic Riding Association is an organization committed to teaching equine skills and horseback riding to people with a wide range of disabilities. Within weeks of starting INTRA’s sessions, most riders show dramatic improvement in their ability to face the challenges of their disability.
Target: £11,455 to fund 1500 riding lessons for children and adults with severe learning disabilities
HAMA: animal assisted therapy for vulnerable people
HAMA uses animal assisted therapy to help children and families at risk, holocaust survivors, trauma victims, children with ADHD (attention deficit hyperactive disorder) and other vulnerable groups. Many of HAMA's 30 dogs and 15 cats have themselves been rescued from abusive homes or abandonment. They become important facilitators of human recovery and rehabilitation and help children and adults express themselves, through relating to the animals who are percieved as non-threatening and non-judgemental.

Dental Volunteers for Israel: Free dental treatment for Jerusalem's poorest children
Dental problems in children can result in serious illness, pain and social problems. DVI is the only clinic in Israel to provide dental treatment and preventative education to Jerusalem’s poorest children – for free. All the dentists are volunteers, many on holiday from overseas and 80% of the materials used are donated by manufacturers. Treatment here is of the highest quality and oral health education sessions are given to every family
Target: £14,818 to fund a course of dental treatment and education for 118 children living below the poverty line in Jerusalem.
Kenafayim: bringing out the individual through art
Kenafayim art centre is a unique place where talented artists, musicians and actors with mental illness and intellectual disabilities come to create and perform. It is a place where they can be defined by their talent, not their disability. The healing powers of art for people with disability are well known, and at Kenafayim this is taken one step further. Not only do particpants gain a sense of dignity and self value by being productive, but the general public that come to see their plays and exhibitions are given a unique insight into the world of disability and stereotypes are challenged.

Crossroads: outreach and educational centre for youth at risk in Jerusalem.
Crossroads is an outreach centre and social service provider for at-risk English speaking teens in Israel. Crossroads social workers find teens in trouble on the streets and offer services and support to help them make a positive change for their future. The goal of the Crossroads centre is to create a combination of hope, skill, and determination that becomes a turning point for these teens, helping them move towards a more fulfilling and independent future.

Bet Shean Foodbank: delivering food parcels to the needy
Hunger is a really big issue for those living in poverty. Over a third of the residents of Bet Shean, a small town located in the north of Israel, are registered with the welfare department and struggle to provide enough food for themselves and their families. The Bet Shean Foodbank is run 100% by volunteers who prepare, package and deliver food for the needy for Shabbat and the holidays. Much of the food that they deliver is donated by local members of the community, Kibbitzim and venue halls.

Bet Hayeled: providing a loving home to at-risk children
Established 14 years ago on Kibbutz Merav in the North of Israel, Bet Hayeled cares for children who have been removed by social services from their family home in order to escape a cycle of distress, abuse and violence. Nine children currently live in this loving foster home and are rebuilding their lives in a warm, nurturing, safe community.

Olim Together: Leadership and Employment Excellence for Ethiopian-Israeli University Graduates
Olim Together strives to afford Ethiopian Israeli university graduates with the opportunity to hold respectable jobs in the Israeli work force, providing this underprivileged population with a second chance at a successful absorption into Israeli society. The organization assists the graduates to find employment that suits their academic education. They also operate an excellence and enrichment program which providesthe graduates with personal mentors and personal English tutors.
Target: £15,000 for a new progamme for students at Haifa University
Gan Hayeled: recreational treatment and rehabilitation for children with special needs
Gan Hayeled (children's garden) is a recreational centre for children who are developmentally and physically disabled. It provides a therapeutic environment which recognizes the special needs and capabilities of these children and helps alleviate the problems of loneliness and isolation which they so often experience. Gan Hayeled offers after-school activities to over 200 children in three centres in the north of israel, as well as holiday camps and weekend retreats.

Tikvot: sport therapy for terror victims and wounded soldiers.
Tikvot (hopes) provides survivors of terror attacks and wounded soldiers with access to specialist sport facilities and expert instruction in an effort to help them regain their self confidence and to feel in charge of their lives again. Activities include horse riding, hand cycling, sailing, abseiling and fishing.

Click is an organisation with a number of innovative programmes that encourage elderly people to remain active, alert and useful. Click believes that today’s elderly are a potential active resource, awaiting opportunities to become "integral contributors" of our society. Click aims to give the elders something to look forward to each day and to change the way they see themselves and the community sees them.
Target: £5,737 for 150 elders to particpate in sports activities twice a week for a year
MASLAN: counselling and support for survivors of rape and sexual assault
MASLAN is the centre for battered and sexually abused women of the southern region of israel. MASLAN offers essential emotional and practical support to victims of sexual and domestic violence and runs education programmes aimed at raising awareness in order to reduce and ultimately eradicate such violence.
Target: £9,000 towards the new long-term counselling unit
MTova : computer access and training for underprivileged populations
MTova operates 5 computer centres throughout Jerusalem aimed at providing underprivileged populations with the necessary computer literacy skills needed to succeed in today’s world. These programmes help bridge social gaps, reduce unemployment, and improve the earning powers of the underpaid.

Girlfriends IDF: emotional support for partners of fallen soldiers
Girlfriends IDF was established in order to provide emotional and emergency assistance for girlfriends and fiances of fallen soldiers. These women are provided with a framework of support groups which are led by professional group counsellors who help them cope with the terrible tragedy that has befallen them. The girls also receive assistance with other matters relating to this trauma such as help paying for medication.
Target: £2,182 to pay for 2 relaxation days for 40 girls each
Garden of Hope Nursery: providing a lifeline to parents of young children
The Garden of Hope nursery offers day care for Ethiopian-Israeli children aged 1-3 in the Ashkelon area. The parents of these children are faced with the struggle between making ends meet and caring for their young children and this nursery provides a solution that enables parents to go out to work whilst their children are cared for at a very low cost.

Forgotten People Fund: vital support for the Ethiopian community
Ever since the Ethiopian community started arriving in Israel, they have suffered from physical and social problems arising from a dramatic change in culture and social structure. Poverty, unemployment, domestic violence and crime are huge problems in these communities and the Forgotten People Fund is doing all it can to relieve the suffering by providing financial assistance, food vouchers, health advice and other practical help.
Target: £19,636 to fund professional scholarships for 18 students.
Birthday Angels: giving birthday parties for underprivileged children
Thousands of children in Israel go without a birthday party every year because their parents or carers cannot afford it. Birthday Angels has created a bespoke party kit for just £18, containing games, decorations and stickers. The party is arranged by a volunteer and helps the child feel special, loved and good about him/herself.

Shikum Acher: giving a chance to the mentally ill
Established in November 2004, Shikum Acher (“Alternative Rehabilitation”) is a non-profit organization in Israel that aims to assist individuals who have difficulties in fulfilling their true potential, integrating into society, and integrating into the job market. Shikum Acher operates a number of unique rehabilitation programs for populations with special needs. The organisation’s main rehabilitation program is “Creating with Love”, a program that provides mentally ill adults with the tools to enter the workforce and support themselves with dignity in various artistic fields.
